Rising Tide North America
In order to fight a diverse array of issues we need to build a grassroots movements to undermine the power and authority that the fossil fuel industry, politicians, and global finance institutions holds over our communities and climate. Rising Tide North America (RTNA) is leading a grassroots effort to challenge the root causes of climate change using creative non-violent direct action, grassroots organizing and solidarity with communities on the frontlines of energy extraction and other struggles.
RTNA has a limited fund to give grants to remarkable grassroots groups working to defend their communities and their environment from fossil fuel extraction.
Groups work must fit within some basic criteria:
1. Be engaged in frontline and impacted communities work centering on attacking the root causes of injustice, be it from police, the fossil fuel industry, or global capitalism.
2. Resistance from Rising Tide Chapters, allies or grassroots direct action groups to fight in an immediate local or national issue related to the root causes of injustice.
Grants generally will not exceed $500. Groups, that fit the criteria, with urgent situations can receive up to a $1000. Communities of color and/or low-income communities will receive priority in funding.
